In 1969, Owner John Carey, Sr. left his post at Seven Up Bottling Company to join C. Watson Realty as an agent. Soon thereafter, John assumed the position of Sales Manager. In 1974, Chuck Watson decided to join the fledgling Century 21 group of franchises out of Southern California. Mr. Watson wished to be associated with a large, national organization that had a goal of establishing a respected brand name.

In addition, CENTURY 21 allowed local franchisees to include their own names in the business title which proved to be an effective marketing tool. In 1976, John Carey, Sr. purchased the business from Mr. Watson, located then at 1616 W. Shaw, Fresno. He started out with 10 sales agents. CENTURY 21 C. Watson, still bearing the name of the original owner, moved in 2002 to its present location, 7520 North Palm, Suite 102. The business has grown to include over 120 agents.
